Elizabeth Ellen Wenner, 76, , of Oil City, formerly of Emlenton, beloved mother and grandmother, died at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012.

Born May 20, 1935 in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Peter John O’Brien, Sr. and Virginia Marie Heeter O’Brien.

Mrs. Wenner was a 1952 graduate of Emlenton High School.

She was a member of St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Oil City.

In her earlier years, she was employed by Mellon Bank in Oil City; she then became a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family and her grandchildren.

She was married in St. Michael Catholic Church in Emlenton on June 9, 1956 to Jay Elias Wenner, who preceded her in death in 2009.

Surviving are three children, Debra E. Schreffler and husband Michael R. Schreffler, Robert J. Wenner, Sr. and his wife Karen, and Jeffrey B. Wenner and wife Brenda, all of Oil City; eight grandchildren, Jason Patrick Mason, Sr. of Franklin, Robert Jay Wenner, Jr., Dana Mae Wenner, Madalynn Michelle Wenner, and Jacob Elias Wenner, all of Oil City, Chelsea Brei Barr of Virginia, Kaitlynn Ranae Wenner and Carlee Jay Wenner, both of Oil City; two great-grandchildren, Jason Patrick Mason, Jr. and Amialee Rae Mason, both of Franklin.

Also surviving is a brother, Peter J. O’Brien, Jr. and wife Pam of Port Allegheny; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Shirley J. O’Brien of Emlenton, Mrs. Roberta Wenner of Cranberry, and Mrs. Doris Wenner of Florida; a brother-in-law, Mr. Duane “Bud” Sweet of Oil City, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, William J. O’Brien.

Friends will be received Tuesday (Jan. 31st) from 7-9 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday (Feb. 1) at 11 a.m. in St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Oil City, with the Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, officiating.

Interment will follow in Rockland Cemetery, Rockland Township, Venango County.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Venango County V.N.A. Hospice Program, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin, PA 16323.

Dennis Joseph Guth, 61 of State College died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born June 17, 1950 in Oil City the son of Loren Guth of Kittanning and the late Anna Mae Fletcher Guth. On June 18, 1977 he married the former Maureen Buban who survives. He is also survived by two daughters Erica R. Guth of Annapolis, MD, and Kelsey L. Guth of State College and a son Christopher M. Guth of Philadelphia and his fiancé Claire Bramble, a sister Kathleen Guth of Kittanning and a brother Gary Guth of Rochester, NY.

Dennis was a devoted father and husband. He graduated from University of Pittsburgh in 1972 and received a Master in 1984 in Labor Relations from St. Francis University, Loretto. Since 1987 Dennis was employed by the State College Area School District as Director of Human Resources. He was a founding member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and enjoyed weekends with his friends at his country cabin in Potter County where he worked to perfect his landscape photography hobby. Dennis was a lifelong and passionate fan of State College High School, University of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh professional sports.

Friends will be received at the Koch Funeral Home 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, PA on Tuesday, January 31, 2011 from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Grays Woods on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11:00 am with The Rev. Charles M. Amershek Jr. officiating. Burial will be in State College.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dennis J. Guth Scholarship Fund, c/o SCASD, 131 W. Nittany Ave., State College, PA 16801 or to Centre Volunteers in Medicine, CVIM, 2520 Green Tech Dr, Suite D, State College, PA 16803
