CLARION, Pa. – Mayor Andrea Estadt and two council members resigned following a heated Clarion Borough Council meeting last night.

Mayor Estadt, and council members Jason Noto and Brenda Dede resigned after council voted not to renew the contract of Borough Manager Nancy Freenock.

“I resign from my position as a council member. I will not be part of this,” Noto said. “I think this lady has worked very hard for this borough. I think this is the wrong action.”

“Not only has the Borough Manager been disrespected, but I believe this council is being shafted,” said Dede.

Several questions arose during the discussion including uncertainty over who would assume Borough Manager duties.

The council also voted not to renew the contract of Solicitor Stephen French.

Mr. French told the council that he did not want his name submitted for reappointment at the next meeting.

There is no word on when the vacated positions will be filled.
