Mr. Wayne R. Kaness, 80, formerly of Rouseville, died at 12:29 PM on Friday, January 13, 2012 at the Golden LivingCenter in Titusville.

Wayne was born on September 2, 1931 at Tylersburg, PA, a son of the late Bert and Florence Barr Kaness. He was married to Barbara E. Anthony on Aug. 29, 1951 at Shippenville by Rev. Allman. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2009.

Wayne had been employed at the former Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. for over 25 years until his retirement.

He was an avid reader and enjoyed the outdoors and watching wildlife. He was a life member of the PNA Club in Oil City.

Wayne is survived by four children; Deborah Cotton and her husband Wilbur of Leesburg, FLA, Kathryn Aites of Titusville, DeWayne Kaness and his wife Violet of Rouseville, and Susan Kahnell and her husband John of Titusville; four grandchildren, Mandy Marsh and husband Troy of Oil City, Chad Kahnell and wife Jennifer of Kersey, PA, Dawn Jennerette and husband Gabe of Shippenville, and Julie Mack and husband Brad of Ft. Bragg, NC; five step-grandchildren, Julie Smith and husband Jim of Franklin, Brenda Morrow and husband Jim of Edinboro, Jennifer Rice and husband Tom of Franklin, Kim Boyles and husband Rick of Girard, and William Whitman and wife Deana of Rouseville; numerous great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy O’Neill of Brookville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

No public calling hours or funeral service will be conducted.

Private interment will be in Union Cemetery.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Asera Care Hospice 1600 Peninsula Dr. Suite 14 Erie, PA 16505; or to the Cherrytree Volunteer Fire Department.
