Janet M. Burt

Janet M. Burt, 81, of Rte. 157, Oil City, died Saturday morning, January 14, 2012 at her residence.

Born November 16, 1930 in Grand Valley, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Jessie Wright Martin.

She was a 1949 graduate of Titusville High School.

Mrs. Burt was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Oil City, where she enjoyed the company of the United Methodist Women’s group.

Janet enjoyed cooking and taking fishing trips in Canada. She and her husband resided in Florida for sixteen years before returning to the area.

She was employed for many years at the Market Basket grocery store in Bradford. She later worked at the Penn State extension office in Kane, until she became disabled.

Janet was married on June 10, 1950 in Niagara Falls, N.Y. to Richard “Dick” Burt, and he survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Robert Burt and wife Nancy of Rutland, Vermont, and Gary Burt and wife Roxanne of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren, Michelle, Andrew, Lauren, and Jennifer; and a sister, Cecil Richard and husband Daniel of Meadville. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Martin.

Friends will be received Monday (Jan. 16) from 4-7 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday (Jan. 17) at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Bruce Davis, pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Plumer Cemetery, Cornplanter Township, Venango County.
