4-year-old Boy Dies in Smicksburg Fire

SMICKSBURG, Pa. – A 4-year-old boy was pronounced dead earlier today as a result of injuries sustained in a fire in Smicksburg, Indiana County.

Police said a 4-year-old boy was pronounced dead at 5:52 a.m. today at UPMC Mercy after sustaining severe injuries in a fire yesterday on Griffith Rd. in Smicksburg.

Cause of death was listed as thermal injuries and smoke inhalation.

A 5-year-old boy and a 29-year-old male who were also injured in the fire are being treated at UPMC Mercy.

Fire Marshall Cpl. Charles Gross and PSP Punxsutawney are investigating the fire.

Allegheny Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation.
