Jack William (Bill) Shreffler

Jack William (Bill) Shreffler, age 67, of Emlenton, died Monday, January 23, 2012, at his residence, following a sudden illness.

Born December 2, 1944 in Richland Township, Venango County, he was a son of the late Ray and Agnes Snively Shreffler.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a Seabees during the Vietnam War.

He was the owner/operator of Bill’s Auto Service in Emlenton and most recently delivered lumber for Hickman Lumber.

Bill attended the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Ninevah. He was a member of the Clarion Scoot-N-Boots and his particular favorite spots, Avon Oaks and Ghost Riders.

He took great pleasure in his Country Line Dancing and the 2 Step, West Coast Swing and Hustle, were his dances. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his Wednesday lunches with the car club. He was an avid NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his children, Ray Shreffler of Portland, Tennessee and Rena Vegely of Fort Worth, Texas; Five grandchildren: Alejandrea, Marissa and Hannah Rae Shreffler and Jacob and Jenna Beckham; Three brothers: Larry Shreffler and his wife, Dorothy, of Wilson, North Carolina; Dick Shreffler and his wife, Diane, of Emlenton and Pete Shreffler and his wife, Bonnie, of Kossuth; Seven sisters: Shirlee King and her husband, Albert, of Knox; Patricia Wenner of Knox; Connie Weaver of Knox; Barbara Lynn of Savannah, Georgia, Darlene Weaver of Knox; Carol Ann Beck and her husband, Arthur of Knox and Carolyn Joan Amsler and her husband, Edward, of Cranberry; Numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law; Gary Wenner and Dan Lynn.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012, at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

Military honors will be accorded at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church at 2561 Grace Church Road, Knox (Ninevah) by the Berlin-Bowser Post #720 of the Knox American Legion.

Funeral services will follow on Saturday in the church with Reverend Rick Osberg, pastor at Grace EC, officiating.

Interment will take place in the Nickleville Cemetery, Richland Township, Venango County.

In lieu of flowers and memorial contributions, the family has asked that donations be made to the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., P.O. Box F, Knox, PA 16232, to help with Bill’s final expenses.
