Malley Ralph Davis

Malley Ralph Davis, age 92, of New Bethlehem, died Monday afternoon, February 27, 2012 at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

Born May 31, 1919 in Brookville, he was a son of the late Mallie W. and Mae Lockwood Davis.

Ralph was a United States Army veteran, serving in Company C, 241st Engineer Combat Battalion, stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II.

He was a construction worker and dozer operator for C & K Coal Company, a member of the Oakland Church of God in Distant and attended the First United Methodist Church in New Bethlehem. He was also a member of the VFW Club in New Bethlehem, the New Bethlehem Masonic Lodge #522 and the Coudersport Consistory.

On February 16, 1940 he married the former Helen G. Metz. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1996.

He is survived by his three children; Nancy Hetrick of Vermilion, Ohio; Joanne Mohney and her husband, Jerry, of New Bethlehem and Thomas Davis and his wife, Linda, of Reynoldsville; Seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ralph was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister: James Davis, Thomas Davis and Dorothy Shuster. He was also preceded in death by his great grandson, Levi S. Mohney.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 301 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 in the funeral home. Reverend Jimmy Swogger, pastor of the Oakland Church of God, will officiate.

Interment will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Distant, Armstrong County.

Memorial contributions may be given in the name of M. Ralph Davis to the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem-Memorial Fund, 234 Penn Street, New Bethlehem, PA 16242.

Eleanor Joan Clinger Kent, age, 82 of Dunlap Ave, Punxsutawney, PA, formerly of Clarion died Feb. 27, 2012 at her home. Born in Corsica, PA on July 23, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George Leo and Alice Ethel Snyder Clinger.

Mrs. Kent worked at the Brookville Glove Factory as a seamstress, O-I Glass plant in Clarion, Clarion University and the Clarion Hospital and Clarion Area Schools as a Cook and Dietary Aide. She was a member of the O-I Auxiliary.

She was married on Oct. 14, 1950 to Ralph Owen Kent for 43 years and he preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1993.
Mrs. Kent was a former member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion. She loved her family very much and she was an excellent and generous, loving Mom. She enjoyed camping, swimming and being outdoors.

Surviving is a son, Ronald O. Kent and his wife Theresa of Hamilton, PA, two daughters, Karen L. Burkett of Punxsutawney, Debra A. Kent and David Reddinger of Punxsutawney, two grandchildren, William J. and his wife Lacey Black and Kelly E. Rieth, a great grand daughter, Morgan D. Black along with her long time friend Don Ashbaugh of Strattanville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son in law, David H. Burkett who died in Sept. 2011. Also preceding in death were five brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 from the Goble Funeral Home & Crematory, 330 Wood St, Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday from the funeral home with Rev. Harold O. Jacobson, pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion officiating. Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery.

Memorials may be made the Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion or the American Diabetes Association.

MARGARET B. FAIR, 86, of Knox, Pa. passed away at 12:45 AM Monday (02-27-12) morning at her residence following an illness.

Born on Nov. 1, 1925 at Webster, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Horvath Balas. She was married on July 2, 1977 to Addason A. Fair, who passed away Nov. 21, 2001. She was an active member of the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church near Knox. Margaret was a longtime member of Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 267 of Clarion, where she had served as Sentinel and Bible Bearer. For many years she had been employed at the former Modern Diner and Clipper Restaurant, both of Clarion.

Surviving are a daughter and husband, Jean and Dave Shick, of Tyler, Texas; three sons and wives: Ed and Kathy Brown of Shippenville, Tom and Nancy Brown of Lamartine, and James L. and Darlene Brown of Polk; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren survive as well as several nieces and nephews; sister Lillian Sitter of Indiana, Pa.; brother William L. Balas of Chapmanville, Pa. In addition to parents and husband, Mrs. Fair was preceded in death by grandson, Michael Thomas Brown, great-grandson, Hunter Shaffer, two sisters: Mary Kachursky and Susan Yasenba; three brothers: Michael, John, and Andrew Balas.

Visitation from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM Wednesday at Mt. Joy United Methodist Church, Mt. Joy Rd., near Knox (I-80 Exit 53). Funeral service at 3:00 PM in the church with Rev. Dan Myers, church pastor, and Rev. Richard Edinger, retired pastor, officiating. Interment in Mt. Joy Cemetery. Members of OES Chapter 267 of Clarion will conduct services as 3:00 PM Wednesday, just prior to funeral service.
