Gary E. Rembold

Gary E. Rembold, 71, of Ashland Church Road, Cranberry, died at 12:20 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born November 26, 1940 in Oil City, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Pauline Carnes Rembold.

Gary graduated from Oil City High School in 1959 and then served four years in the U.S. Air Force where he was a member of the Air Force pistol team.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

Gary enjoyed NASCAR races, camping, hunting, and spending time with his beloved family and grandchildren.

Mr. Rembold retired from Joy Manufacturing in Franklin where he worked more than fifteen years as a master machinist. Prior to Joy, Gary was employed by both Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in Franklin, and the F.R.B. Machine Shop in Emlenton.

He was married in Rome, New York on February 11, 1963 to the former Ann R. Higley, who survives.

Also surviving are five children, Tracie Rembold of Knox, Laurie Flowers and husband Bo of Pensacola, Florida, Terry Rembold and wife Stacie of Dayton, Ohio, Lisa Sloan of Knox, and Todd Rembold of Shippenville; fourteen grandchildren: Venessa and Ryan Nelson, Kaitlyn Rembold, Sarah Rembold, Stephanie McClendon, Jonathan Ketner, Jamie Andrews, Brandon and Alyssa Flowers, Patrick, Sean and Jensen Sloan, Hope Savory, and Kaden Rembold; and three great-grandchildren, Riley Nelson, and Natalie and Dayton Andrews.

Two sisters survive, Sandy Kostial and husband Joe of Aliquippa, and Carol Fisher and husband Jack of Lewes, Delaware; two brothers, Jim Rembold and wife Judy of Oil City, and Lynn Rembold and wife Donna of Oil City. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Rembold, and a great-grandson, Connor Andrews.

Friends will be received Friday (Feb. 3rd) from 4-8 p.m. and also on Saturday (Feb. 4th) from noon until 1 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.

Funeral services will be held from the funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 4th) with the Rev. Mark E. Micklos, pastor of Fern Trinity Evangelical Church, and the Rev. Randy L. Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA hospice chaplain, officiating.

Interment will follow in Brandon Cemetery, Cranberry, where full military honors will be accorded by the Knox American Legion Post 720.
