Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel, Crashes on I-80

RICHLAND TWP., Pa. – A 22-year-old man fell asleep at the wheel on Saturday afteroon, causing a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 80.

Clarion-based state police said Matthew Morrell, 22, Louisville, KY, fell asleep while traveling on I-80 in Richland Township near mile-marker 47.

Police said Morrell’s vehicle traveled off of the roadway and struck a traffic sign.

Morrell, who was cited for careless driving, was not injured in the accident.

Emlenton VFD and Emlenton Ambulance assisted at the scene.
