Margaret B. Phillips

Margaret B. Phillips of Mechanicsburg, formerly of New Bethlehem, passed to her eternal reward on Monday, February 6, 2012, at the age of 96.

Born in Sligo on May 27, 1915, she was the daughter of the late William and Emma Pollack Myers.

She was the loving wife of the late Donald G. Phillips for 57 years before his passing in 1997. They resided in New Bethlehem before moving to Mechanicsburg to live with their daughter and family.

Margaret was a member of the Silver Springs Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg and the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the New Bethlehem Chapter- Order of The Eastern Star.

Margaret was a church organist for eleven years at the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church and enjoyed crocheting and reading, her flower garden and most of all, spending time with her family. She always made family celebrations memorable with her special touches and great cooking.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Shaffer and her husband Bill, of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren: Laura Ingelido of Levittown, PA; Matthew Shaffer and Sharon Crane of Mechanicsburg and April Sibbach and husband Jason, of Palmyra and four great grandchildren, Mark Ingelido, Lydia and Liam Crane and Emma Sibbach.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Phillips Magnelli of Harrisburg, in 2009.

Calling hours will be held from 5-7PM on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Friends will also be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Rupert Funeral Home, 301 Penn Street, New Bethlehem and from 10 to 11 AM Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 403 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday in the church. Reverend Cyndy Dixon, pastor of the church and former pastor of the church, Reverend Sarah Heppenstall , will be officiating.

Interment will follow in the Squirrel Hill Cemetery, Porter Township, Clarion County.
