Daniel Ernest Estadt

Daniel Ernest Estadt, 75, of Shippenville passed away on Sunday February 12, 2012, following a lengthy illness from myelodysplastic syndrome. Born August 28, 1936, in Braddock, PA, he was the son of Cecilia and Ernest Estadt.

Dan was a graduate of St. Anslem’s Roman Catholic Junior High School and Swissvale High School. After high school, Dan spent three and a half years in the US Navy aboard the USS Randolph. He graduated from Clarion State College and married Marian (Mame) Siegel. He later earned his Master’s degree in political science from West Virginia University.

He was a high school Social Studies teacher and basketball coach at Tarentum High School for five years. He left teaching to become the Industrial Relations Manager for Glass Containers in Parker, PA where he worked for five years before becoming the Industrial Relations Manager for Schenley Distilleries in Schenley, PA.

In November 1976, he opened Dan Estadt’s Sports Shop in Clarion, PA. This was one of his greatest accomplishments. Over the past 36 years, Dan spent his time meeting the people of the Clarion area. He loved connecting with the community and developed long lasting relationships with those around him. He always had time for conversation and laughter, with everyone who came into contact with him. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and treasured the time he spent attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events. Dan was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the American Legion.

Dan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mame; his three children, Kelley Rupert and her husband Jon Rupert; Danny Estadt and friend Pam Lockhart; Dave Estadt and his wife Andrea Estadt; his 4 grandchildren Lindsay Jankowski and her husband Joe Jankowski, Mark Rupert, Jake Rupert and Elizabeth Estadt; sister-in-law Genna Schwartz; brother-in-law Paul Siegel and his wife Raine; brother-in-law Bill Siegel and his wife Marcia; brother-in-law Larry Siegel; sister-in-law Edna Siegel; sister-in-law Debbie Burford and her husband John; sister-in-law Mickey Bowersox and her husband Jim; sister-in-law Nancy Estadt; in addition to 23 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and in-laws, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leo Estadt and Dr. Gary Estadt, and his brother in law Kenny Siegel.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion, PA with Father Charles Schmitt presiding.
A Christian wake service will be held at 8:30 PA Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thurs at the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Clarion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Clarion Cancer Center.
