MARIENVILLE, Pa. – A 17-year-old boy escaped from Cornell Abraxas and led police on a 28-mile chase in a stolen car last night.

State police in Marienville tell exploreClarion.com that the incident occurred last night around 10:00 when the juvenile stole a 26-year-old Kane woman’s keys and subsequently stole her 2008 Toyota SUV.

Police said a 28-mile pursuit began when a PSP Marienville patrol car observed the SUV traveling south on SR-66 in Paint Township, near the road’s intersection with SR-322.

The chase continued south on SR-66 to I-80 Eastbound, at which point Clarion-based State Police assisted.

The pursuit ended at I-80 mile-marker 84 in Jefferson County when the accused lost control of the SUV, crashed into the guide rails and subsequently struck another vehicle.

The accused was transported to Brookville Hospital for treatment of injuries and later returned to Cornell Abraxas.

Two occupants in the other vehicle were not injured.

Several felony charges will be filed against the juvenile, including escape, theft, fleeing and eluding, and assault.
