Michael F. “Mike” Barrett
Michael F. “Mike” Barrett, 48, of Jupiter, Florida, formerly of Cranberry, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 9, 2012.
Born August 14, 1963 in Oil City, he was the son of Donna J. Showers Barrett and the late Frank N. Barrett.
Mike was a 1983 graduate of Cranberry High School. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Florida.
While growing up in Venango County, he enjoyed hunting, riding mini-bikes and motorcycles, going to the Jeep races and camping with his friends. In Florida he enjoyed time spent fishing on his boat and participated in several fishing tournaments.
He was employed as a color press operator for Ellison Graphics in Jupiter, Florida.
Mike was married in Florida on March 2, 1990 to the former Bobbi Smith, who survives.
Also surviving is his mother, Donna Barrett of Cranberry; a step-daughter, Kati Shea of Florida; a step-granddaughter, Rylee Shea also of Florida; three brothers, Robert Barrett and wife Joyce of Lakeland, Florida, David Barrett and wife Judy of Oil City, and Daniel Barrett of Cranberry; and a niece, Amy Tobin and her two children, Kyle and Caitlin of Leesburg, Florida.
His surviving aunts and uncles include Alberta Maier and husband Phil of Oil City, Sandy Dowlan of Shippenville, Sandy Showers and husband Richard of Columbus, Ohio, Margaret Barrett of Edinboro, Helen Drelick of Oil City, Dottie Heigley and husband Jim of Oil City, James Barrett of Jupiter, Florida, and Gene Showers of Dempseytown.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank N. Barrett; uncles Robert Barrett and his wife Lois, Adam Drelick, Clifford Barrett, Everett Barrett, Eddie Barrett, Harry Barrett and his wife Mae; and aunts Bea Aikins, Doris Mae, and Arlene Kane.
Private funeral services for the family will be held in Florida.
