Local Band Wins National Contest

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – NOMaD’s “American Boy” has been selected as the winning track in Mello Yello’s One Track Find competition.

The online contest, which netted a $25,000 prize for the band, took place on Facebook and featured thousands of national entries.

“American Boy” was the band’s first single off of their second self-titled, independent release.

“The response from everyone has been incredible and we are beyond excited to have some financial support and some national exposure.” said Luke Zacherl, the band’s fiddle player.

Luke is a 1999 graduate of Keystone High School.

Other members of the band are David August (Lead Vocals), Jay Pfeifer (Guitars/Vocals), Bobby Kunkel (Drums/Vocals), George Elliott (Bass), and “Suitcase” Johnny Waclo (Acoustic/Electric Rhythm Guitar/Vocals).

NOMaD was also selected as Kenny Chesney’s Next Big Star in 2008. They have opened for or supported over 100 national artists including Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Leann Rimes, Rascal Flatts, Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith, Big & Rich, and George Jones.

The band will be performing at this year’s Autumn Leaf Festival on Friday, October 5 in front of the courthouse in Clarion.

The show kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
