title=Clarion University of Pennsylvania and Butler County Community College signed a joint degree completion agreement April 29. Through the agreement, BC3 graduates with associate degrees in early childhood education will be able to remain at BC3 to complete the bachelor’s degree from Clarion, an opportunity not previously available to them.

Students in the program will enroll with Clarion University for their junior and senior years and will be instructed by Clarion faculty who will travel to the BC3 main campus. The program will begin in fall 2013.

Dr. Karen Whitney, president of Clarion University, traveled with her team to BC3 to meet with Dr. Nick Neupauer, president of BC3, and his cabinet, deans and faculty members who worked on details of the agreement.

“Today’s signing of the partnership between Clarion University and Butler County Community College to offer a two-plus-two early childhood education degree completion program at Butler is the first of many innovative partnerships allowing both institutions of higher learning to provide learning opportunities to students,” Whitney said.

“I am excited because this benefits our students,” Neupauer said. “This agreement gives them a great opportunity to earn degrees from two great institutions and saves money in the process.”

Neupauer (M.S. ’93) added that Clarion University holds a special place in the hearts of himself and his wife, Tammy (’93), both of whom are Clarion alumni.
