HOWE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Marienville-based State Police say on December 28, juveniles became hostile at Abraxis Youth and Family Services in Howe Township, Marienville, and four staff members were assaulted.

The following staff members were assaulted:

– a 29-year-old Brookville man
– a 48-year-old Strattanville man
– a 31-year-old Oil City man
– a 22-year-old Summerville man

According to investigating officer, Trooper Wagner, of PSP Marienville, there are 11 juvenile suspects ranging in ages from 14 to 17.

Police say the incident began in the gymnasium around 7:13 p.m., and three staff members were assaulted.

The juveniles then exited the gym and went to a dorm where they threw multiple items, according to police.

After that, they went to a female dorm, and a fourth staff member was assaulted, police say.

“They (the juveniles) damaged some property, and eight fled on foot,” says Trooper Wagner.

“We were able to locate them and return them to the facility.”

Three returned voluntarily, and the other five were located in a vehicle on the grounds, according to police.

Wagner says the incident was under control by 8:00 p.m.

“There will be charges, but they have not yet been determined. I have to speak with the District Attorney in Forest County first,” Wagner says.

All four staff members were injured; they were transported to Clarion Hospital for treatment, Wagner says.

Their conditions are unknown.

PSP Clarion was assisted by PSP Ridgway and Clarion Ambulance.
