What is your favorite thing about being in the military?

“…Bringing 19 wounded out of battle. I flew in eight times and took ammo in and brought wounded out. The Colonel told me to go in one time. They could have court-martialed me or made me a hero. It took less paperwork to make me a hero.”

What inspires you to be in the military?

“I was drafted in 1959.”

What is your most memorable moment in the military?

“Being a commander and working with the troops. I was a commander four times.”

Family Life?

“We had no kids. My wife became a professional banker, and I became a professional soldier. We loved to travel, and it was great.”
