James Sheridan Krug

jamesJames Sheridan Krug, age 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Reading Hospital on Monday, March 24th, 2014, following a valiant struggle with cancer.

Born in Oil City, PA on May 18th, 1932, he was the son of Ralph and Katherine Krug. He was a graduate of Oil City High School, class of 1950, and a graduate of Penn State University, majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Administration. His career in Food Service included owning his own restaurants, managing hotel, motel, and country club dining room services, and serving as an instructor in Food Service at the Venango County Area Vocational Technical School. He served in the United States Army from 1954-1956.

He was the loving husband of Ruth Ann (Schaeffer) for 57 years and was a wonderful father and PaPa to his three children and five grandchildren. He lived the majority of his life in the Oil City area and had many fond memories. After retirement, he and Ruth Ann relocated to her hometown of Fleetwood, PA. and then to The Heritage of Green Hills.

He always loved music and enjoyed participating in the Muhlenberg Community Chorus, the Encore Chorus, and the Wyomissing Band. In addition to music, his hobbies included fishing and hunting, reading, woodworking, and travel. He also liked football, especially the Nittany Lions and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a past member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City, and the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Fleetwood. He will be best remembered for his integrity, love of family, friends, and country, and his sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife Ruth Ann, his children Kathy (Brinton), Karolyn (Greg), and Jonathan (Penny) and his grandchildren Jaelene, Jonathan, Tyler, Michael, and Susan, his brother David, his cousin Bob Reynolds, many nieces, nephews, and friends. He will also be sadly missed by his two feline companions, Kitty Girl and Topaz.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28th, at the Mae Stump Funeral Home (www.maestumpfuneralhome.com) in Fleetwood at 11 AM. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 9 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be at the Fleetwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
