State Police Warn Public of Potential Scams

CLARION, Pa. – Pennsylvania State Police are warning the public of scams involving making purchases online via classified advertising websites.

The following message was released by the Pennsylvania State Police:

Local residents should use extra caution when making purchases from classified advertising websites.

Recent investigations have revealed victims who sent money orders for items that were not exchanged as agreed upon.

In addition, be wary of individuals making third party sales or transactions on behalf of someone else.

Deceptive practices are common on the internet as users are fairly anonymous.
