OI1395285515_karnscburton001C. Burton Karns , 91, of 19 South Park Ave. Oil City, PA. died at 2:10 P.M. on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at UPMC-Northwest in Seneca after an extended illness.

Born Sept. 29, 1922 in Oil City, he was the son of the late Lawrence James Karns & Sylvia Goodman Karns

Mr. Karns was a 1940 graduate of Oil City High School.

He had served in the United States Army as a Corporal in the China Burma India Theatre during World War II ,as a Airplane & Engine Mechanic.

Mr. Karns was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal World War II.

Burt was married to the former Eula Mae Weckerly on July 17, 1948 and she survives.

He had been self employed for many years as a building contractor and had built more than a 100 homes in the Oil City Area.

Mr. Karns was a member of the Hasson Heights Community Church.

He enjoyed singing and was a founding member of the Venango Barbertones.

In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling.

He also enjoyed reading , gardening and was a tremendous Pittsburgh Pirates Fan and enjoyed traveling.

He and his wife spent their winters for many years in Harlingen, TX.

He is survived by three children, Theodore Karns & his wife Cindy of Oil City, Barbara Dudzic & her husband Bill of Oil City, Thomas Burton Karns & his wife Lee of Singapore.

He is survived by 8 grandchildren, Jeffrey & Hind Karns of Abu Dhabi, Samuel Burton Karns of Oil City, Kimberly Johns of Oil City, Casandra Motter & her husband Andy of South Carolina, Jamie & Tomie Karns of Singapore

Gerritt Michael Rex & his wife Lacy of Oil City, Kathryn Ann Rex of Oil City, 4 Great Grandchildren, Alexander Karns, Ryker & Cohen Motter and Jayleigh Rex, And by several nieces and nephews.

Burt was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Darlene Karns, three brothers, James Karns Calvin Karns and Thomas Karns

Friends will be received from 2-4 P.M. Saturday in the Hasson Heights Community Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. in the Church with Rev Jamie Fowler, Presiding.

Military Honors will be performed by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard

Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery

Memorials may be made to the Hasson Heights Community Church
