Louise Smerkar

Louise Smerkar, 96, of Fryburg passed away April 5, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Shippenville.

Born on May 20, 1917 in Clarion PA she was the daughter of Augustine and Anna Denslinger Hartle.

Louise was married on June 29, 1939 to Raymond E. Smerkar who preceded her in death on June 30, 1969.

She was a member of St. Michael Church and Rosary Society in Fryburg and at the time of her passing was the oldest parishioner at St. Michael’s Church.

Louise worked for the Faller Family for over 50 years at both Faller’s Furniture and Faller Funeral Home.

She was an avid Bingo player, enjoyed sewing and especially enjoyed spending time with her family including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Louise is survived by her children: Peggy Schoch and husband Ed of Los Angeles, CA; Charlene Frack and husband Marvin of Whitehall, PA; Sam Smerkar and wife Ann of Venus; Valerie Fisher and husband Daniel of Pittsburgh, PA; Douglas Smerkar and wife Julie of Fryburg. Also surviving grandchildren include: Michelle Sandrock-Corrow, Samantha Schmader, Erika Moore, Ryan Smerkar, Amanda Mainarich, Melissa Mainwaring, Mark Fisher, Darla Smerkar, Shane Smerkar, and Mathias Smerkar; also surviving are eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, twin infant sons, and a sister Dorothy M. Weirich.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 7, 2014 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg. A parish vigil will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 3:45 pm.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 10am at St. Michael Church in Fryburg with Rev. D.G. Davis III, Pastor as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery following the mass.

Memorials in her name may be made to Golden Living Center in Shippenville.
