Gilbert Dean Buzard

1282457_profile_picGilbert Dean Buzard, age 85 of Fairmount City, died April, 7, 2014, at the Butler Hospital.

Born in Limestone on December 28, 1928, he was the son of the late Holland E. Buzard and Cora Coulter Buzard.

He served in the US Army Air Force as a Staff Sergeant from June, 1948 to June, 1954, first serving three years at Elmendorf Field in Alaska during the Korean War. He finished his second enlistment at Langley Field in VA.

He worked for 14 years for GE then joined his brothers in operating Piney Meadows Construction along with operating the Piney Meadows Park.

He was a member of the Clarion American Legion Post 66.

He was married on June 1, 1953, to Isabel McAfee “Ginger” Buzard who preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2009.

He is survived by two children, a son David H.L. Buzard and his wife Michele of Pittsburgh and a daughter, Elizabeth A. Spangler and her husband James of Frogtown.

Also surviving are two brothers, Richard Buzard of Tionesta and Douglas Buzard of Franklin; two sisters, Marcella Haskell of Scottsdale, AZ and Sue Daugherty of Melborn, FL.

He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jennifer Aaron, Meredith Hanlin and Nick Carey; two great grandchildren Natalie Aaron and Sloane Hanlin; along with many nieces and nephews and a special niece Sharon Kreitzer of Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and six brothers.

Services will be held on Sunday, April 13 at 1:30pm at the Nevin Memorial United Church of Christ in Frogtown with Pastor Sam Swick officiating. Interment will be held in the Limestone Cemetery.
Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Clarion American Legion Post 66 at the beginning of the services.
