Remona E.”Mona” Kerlin

Remona E.”Mona” Kerlin, 94, formerly of Rockville, died Monday, April 7, 2014 at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.

Born May 20, 1919, in Rockville, she was a daughter of the late Haven and Verna (Whistler) Schlegel. Her husband, Arthur D. Kerlin, whom she married Aug. 2, 1945, died Jan. 1, 2011.

She is survived by two sons, Ron Kerlin and wife, Pat, of Emlenton and Cliff Kerlin and wife, Doris, of Mifflintown; five grandchildren, Patrick Kerlin, Nicholas Kerlin, Andrea Hoven, Aaron Kerlin, and Kerry Kerlin, and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Naylor, one brother, George “Clyde’ Schlegel, and two grandsons, Christopher Kerlin and Keith Kerlin.

Mona graduated from Juniata Joint High School and worked at Juniata Garment during World War II. From 1957 until she retired in 1981, she was a cook in the Juniata County School District.

She enjoyed cooking, baking and taking care of the neighborhood cats.

Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown with Pastor Gay Irwin officiating.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Mifflintown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pet Food Pantry, PO Box 3, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
