PERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say on April 11 around 5:58 a.m., deer on the roadway lead to an accident on State Route 368, in Perry Township, Clarion County.

According to Clarion-based State Police, Brian D. Altman, 22, of Rimersburg, was traveling west on State Route 368 near the Central Electric pole yard and noticed a herd of deer in the westbound lane.

Altman attempted to go around the deer by moving into the left lane, police say.

He traveled off the edge of the roadway, striking a deer with his 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, then striking the dirt embankment along the eastbound lane.

The vehicle rolled onto its passenger side while rotating counterclockwise approximately 90 degrees, police say.

It came to rest on its roof facing south.

Altman was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
