Elizabeth A. “Betty” Peebles

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Peebles, 68, of 13020 State Highway 8 Titusville, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 10, 2014.

Betty was born on November 1, 1945 at Ligonier, PA, a daughter of the late John B. and Lillian C. Rankin Harmon.  She was married to Richard G. Peebles on November 28, 1964 in Titusville.

Betty was a graduate of the Titusville High School, class of 1964.  She had been employed for 25 years at the Titusville Post Office from where she had retired.

Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was very active having served as deacon and elder.  She was a member of the ushering team and currently serving on session.

She was a former member of the Funsters Bowling League and of the Titusville Service League.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband, going on cruises, and snowmobiling.  She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed tending to her gardens.

Betty is survived by her husband of Titusville; three sons, Roger Peebles and wife Colleen of Mukwonago, WI, Thomas Peebles of Enumclaw, WA, and Richard James “Jamie” Peebles of Titusville; two grandchildren, Lynsey and Leigha Peebles; the following brothers and sisters, Lois Smith and husband John of Titusville, Nettie Anders and husband Buzzy of Prineville, OR, Roxie “Butch” Ray of Chickamauga, GA, Kay Kellogg of Elko, NV, James B. Harmon of Dunlap, TN, Patricia Kellogg of Titusville, Teresa Whitman of Monte Vista, CO, Mildred “Midge” Pentland and husband David of Longview, WA, Russell Harmon and wife Aree of Rock Spring, GA, Nancy Queen and husband Verlin of Prineville, OR, and Donald C. Harmon and wife Nancy of Ringgold, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service on Monday at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Barry E. Cressman, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Cherrytree Twp.

The family asks that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church 216 N. Franklin St. Titusville, PA 16354.
