Lorraine E. Couts

Member_133209Lorraine E. Couts, 85, of Venus, Pinegrove Township, died at 9:25 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born on September 1, 1928 in Allegheny County to Florence (Hester) Carlson Novak.

Mrs. Couts was of the Lutheran faith.

In the Troy Hill area of Pittsburgh, she and her husband owned and operated Harry & Lorraine’s Market for many years. After moving to the Oil City area, they operated the West First Street Market in Oil City. She then became a dedicated homemaker and a very proud and loving grandmother.

Lorraine enjoyed cooking and the company of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was married in Virginia on November 17, 1947 to Harry J. Couts, Sr., and he survives.

Also surviving is a son, Harry J. Couts, Jr. and his wife Patti of Venus; a son-in-law, Mick Miller of Oil City; four grandsons, Michael Couts and wife Andrea of High Point, North Carolina, Bryan Couts and wife Jamie of Wattsburg, Steven Miller and wife Brittany of Oil City, and Jeremy Miller and wife Jennifer of Dover, Delaware; and six great-grandchildren: Claire, Benjamin, Kaiden, Blake, Beau, and Bella; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Florence Ann Miller; a brother, Louis Carlson; and a sister, Betty Carlson.

Friends will be received Sunday (April 13th) from 1-4 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township, where a funeral service will be held following the visitation Sunday at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Randy Evans, hospice chaplain of the Clarion/Forest V.N.A., officiating.

Interment will follow in Venus Cemetery.
