1287098_profile_picDudley Phipps Warner Jr.93 formerly of Meadville, PA passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Oakwood Heights, A Presbyterian Homes Community, Oil City, PA.

Dudley was born August 16, 1920 in Franklin, PA the son of the late Dudley Phipps Warner Sr. and Margaret Lillian Shaffer Warner. He married Anna Margaret Tarr who also was of Franklin, on April 30, 1948. She preceded him in death on September 13, 2013.

As a youth he attended Sharpsville High School, and became an Eagle Scout. After serving in the United States Army during World War II, he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Temple University and became the Sales Manager of Warner & Smith Motor Freight, Inc. in Meadville, holding that position until he retired.
He was active in community affairs, especially as a member of the First Christian Church of Meadville, where he sang in the Men’s Choir and active with visiting the sick and needy. He also witnessed at the Crawford County Prison, and for many years, organized the Christian Laymen’s Gospel League at the Crawford County Fair. He had also served as a “Red Coat” at Meadville Medical Center. Dudley loved the outdoor life and sports, especially swimming, camping and canoe paddling. He spent many happy vacations enjoying these things at the family camp in Northern Ontario.

Dudley is survived by a brother; David W. Warner of Exeter, New Hampshire, a sister; Earla Warner Adams of Leesburg, Florida, ten nieces and nephews, notably Patricia Mellring of Cochranton, PA, Robert Deacle of Raleigh, North Carolina, Diane Adams of Hollidaysburg, PA and a niece by marriage, Jackie Rae of Oil City, PA.

In addition to parents and his wife, Dudley was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Deacle and a brother, Edmund Warner, both long time residents of Franklin, PA.

Family and friends may call at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA on Thursday from 12 noon to 2:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 PM with Roger Smith, of First Christian Church of Meadville, officiating. Dudley will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, PA
