Lois Grace White

grceLois Grace White, 90, of 1 Sycamore St, Oil City, died at 1:15 pm Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at her residence.

Born February 2, 1924 in Shreve Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Archie and Grace Miller Grove.

Mrs. White graduated from Cranberry High School.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the YWCA Galavanters.

Mrs. White enjoyed word puzzles, cards, was an avid book reader, and enjoyed spending time traveling and being with her children and grandchildren. This past year was special, as she became a great great grandmother and her 90th birthday.

On September 19, 1941, she married Donald P. White, Sr., who preceded her in death on January 6, 1995.

Surviving are a son, Donald P. White, Jr. and wife Anita of Oil City; four daughters, Carolyn Goral of California, Rosemary Slagle and husband Donald of Seneca, Gail Rowland and husband Chris of Oil City, and Gretchen Rankin and husband Rodney of Oil City; 11 grandchildren, Don (Rusty) White, III, Steven Slagle, Ernest (Chip) Banks, Shelly Laing, David Slagle, Heidi Hicks, Heather Goral, Damian White, Elizabeth White Dixon, Jolene Rankin and Kimberly Mazzo; 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.

Also surviving are a brother, Vern Grove of Washington; a sister, Helen Yarnell and husband Kenneth of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia White; a sister, Genevieve Hondel; two brothers, John Grove and Darrell Grove; a son-in-law, Bill Goral; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy White.

Family and friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 am Saturday with the Rev. Bruce Davis, pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery.

The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers during her yearlong battle with cancer. The many visits during her hospital stay and home visits from Pastor Bruce Davis were so appreciated and the Venango County Hospice Team by her side helping and caring for her every need in the battle.

A Special thank you for her great niece, Sabrina Jones Johnson tenderly caring for her and the many acts of kindness from her family and her special friends of Luther Place.
