CLARION, Pa. — The Clarion University Theatre will present “Moving Forward — A Dance Concert” at 8:00 p.m. April 25 and 26.

Tickets are $12.00 for adults, $9.00 for children ages 12 and under, and free for Clarion University students with a valid ID.

“Moving Forward” is a production created by Clarion alumna-turned-professor Drew Leigh Williams (’08). The show explores the human condition following a major disaster, and is told solely through dance and music. Williams came up with the idea for the show as she was listening to the song “Time” by Hans Zimmer.

“I came across a remix of ‘Time’ and when I heard this music, I saw the entire story. It takes place in an urban setting where you see an array of characters who have all gone through this traumatic experience,” said Williams.

The disaster is never revealed to the audience. Williams hopes every audience member will walk away with a different experience after the show.

“Moving Forward” features choreography by students Christian Ryan (Lansdale), Brittany Tague (Verona) and BreAnna Kirkland (Clarion). The cast includes: Jack O’Keefe (Clifton Heights) as He; Brooke Schwabenbauer (Leeper) as She; Ryan, Tague and Logan Honsaker (Twinsburg, Ohio) as Riot Leaders; and Kirkland, Sarah Roesch (Harrisburg) and Kelsey Blackburn (Shanksville) as Metaphysicals.

The ensemble includes: Casey Martz (Clarington), Mark Hartley (Clarion), Hayley Bowders (Waynesboro), Kiah Harrington-Wymer (Brookville), Kayla Munksgard (Warren), Chelsea Quick (Philipsburg), Kait Nedrow (Dunbar), Dee Eschenbach (Erie), Nicole Azich (Ambridge), Maria Fazio (McKees Rocks) and Blaire Hunter (Hookstown).

The production team includes: Becca Sears (Damascus, Md.), student stage manager; Payge Crock (Lake City) and David Matthews (Clarion), student costume designers; and Kendyl Yarzabek (Warren) and the lighting design class as student lighting designers. Edward J. Powers and Myra Bullington, theatre faculty, will assist with set, lighting and costume design.
