Betty L. HazlettBetty Lou Hazlett, 79, of Fairmount City, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 1, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer.   Betty passed away at her home surrounded by her family and long-time boyfriend, Gene Alwine.

Born on May 31, 1935 in Tarentum; she was the daughter of Porter and Irene Fike.

Betty especially enjoyed cooking for her family, which was enjoyed very much by her family.

Betty and Gene loved and enjoyed Gumtum Park in New Bethlehem.  We all thank the Reichard family for providing Gumtown Park for the public’s enjoyment.

Surviving are her three sisters, May, Dot, and Chris; her five children, Tina Hazlett of South Bethlehem, Criss Hazlett of Erie, Bill Hazlett of Pittsburgh, Porter “Sonny” Hazlett of Meadville, and Katherine Smith Heasley of Fairmount City.

Also surviving are her thirteen grandchildren, Danny Smith Jr and his wife, Jennifer, Cassandra, Jennifer, Ryan, and Jason Smith, Doug Craig, Courtney Rearick, Brandon Brown, Kevin, Cindy, and Jessie Hopper, Matt Zubik, and S. Edinger; and seven great grandchildren, Haley, Miyah, Skyler, Brayden, and Landon Smith, Lennon Hopper, and Bentley Goheen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Buddy Fike; and her beloved daughter, Karen Hazlett.

There will be no services.

The arrangements are under the direction of the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.
