Intoxicated Venango County Man Allegedly Flags Down Police for Ride Home

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say around 1:20 a.m. on July 4, an Oil City man was charged with Public Drunkenness on Allegheny Avenue, near Kinch Lane, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to police, 49-year-old Mark Allen Matthews, of Oil City was allegedly walking in the middle of Allegheny Avenue and flagged down troopers.

He allegedly related that he deserved to be arrested but wanted a ride home.

Matthews was issued a Non-Traffic Citation for Public Drunkenness.

He was given a ride to a relative’s house where he was released to a sober adult.
