William L. Deeter

William L. Deeter, 75, of Utica, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Born, March 2, 1939 in Venango County, he was the son of Ralph and Phyllis Long Deeter. He married Helen Owens on July 29, 1961 and she survives.

Bill was a 1958 graduate of Franklin High School and served with the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged on May 27, 1964. He began working for Riddle Brothers Auto Body and then went to work for PennDot out of the Franklin Yard. He then worked at the PPG plant for 31 years, retiring in 2000.

He enjoyed hunting, working on all types of farming equipment, especially his antique tractor, and being with family and friends.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his son Chris Deeter and his wife Laura of Utica and his daughter Tina Deeter and her fiancée John Cristo Jr. of Cochranton. A sister, Irene George of Chandler, Arizona, Six grandchildren, Stefani Deeter of Bloomsburg, Robert Deeter of Utica, Jennifer Deeter of Utica, Mike Deeter and his fiancée Samantha Ghering of Utica, Justin Ross Deeter of Utica and William Lyon Deeter of Cochranton. Three step grandchildren Stephen Lyon and his fiancée Jolene of Meadville, Michael Lyon and his wife Rayleen of Franklin and Tasha Wolford of Meadville. His special great grandson Jebediah Adams and several step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Jack Deeter, 2 infant daughters Kimberly and Robin, a brother in law, Richard Owens and his mother and father in law James Owens and Helen Minnick Owens Foote, and several aunts and uncles.

Friends will be received at the Dickson Family Funeral Home, Inc., 123 S. Franklin St. Cochranton on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9.

The funeral service will be 11:00am Wednesday from the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Foltz of the Cooperstown Evangelistic Tabernacle, officiating.

Interment will be in Peters Cemetery, Canal Twp., Venango County.
