Betty Hope (Lowmaster) Bender

2594038Betty Hope (Lowmaster) Bender 82 of Parker, Pa., passed away quietly on July 7, 2014 after an extended illness.

Betty was born April 9, 1932 to the late Vera (Spencer) Lowmaster and William Lee Lowmaster of Glen Campbell, PA. On September 13, 1949 Betty married the love of her life William Michael Bender of Pittsburgh who proceeded her in death.

Betty was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed spending time and doing things with her family. She loved making homemade Easter candy with her children, cooking, sewing, camping, crafting especially making things with her seashells. Betty began singing at an early age with her parents and siblings. At age of 8, she sang and played mandolin with her 15 yr old sister Lorna playing guitar on WCED radio in DuBois, PA. They had a 15 min. spot each Saturday and their dad saved his gas ration stamps to take them there. Later she sang country music with Skip Summerville’s Band. Her daughter sang harmony with her, known as Betty Bee and Linda and appeared on many country shows in the tri-state area that included several famous country artists of the day. In 1968 they recorded an album in Nashville, TN. Three records were released and played all over the world.

Betty is survived by her daughter Linda (James H.) Howell of Parker, PA, two sons William (Janet) Bender and Gary (Nancy) Bender both from the Denver, Colorado area, two grandchildren Erin and Sean Bender of Denver, four step-grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. Betty was proceeded in death by her husband of 48 years William Michael Bender, her grandson Billy Lywn Bobbert II of Parker, her parents and many family members. five siblings.

Arrangements are being handled by the H Jack Buzard Funeral Home in Parker, Pa. At the request of the family, all services are private. Interment will take place at the North Side Catholic Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pa. Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Charity of your choice.
