Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel; Truck Slams into Utility Pole, Culvert

PINEY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Clarion-based State Police say a man fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a utility pole and a culvert along Route 68.

Police say the accident happened on Tuesday around 2:25 p.m. when Tory D. Shady, 37, of Julian, Pa., fell asleep while traveling west on State Route 68, just east of Shamrock Drive.

Shady’s 2012 Ford F-750 left the roadway and slammed into a utility pole before striking a culvert, causing disabling damage.

Shady, who was not injured in the accident, was cited with a traffic violation.

Sligo Volunteer Fire Department and Southern Clarion County EMS assisted at the scene.
