Viola A. Johnston

Viola A. JohnstonViola A. Johnston, 93, of 498 McPherson Rd, Oil City, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, as a result of an automobile accident.

Born May 24, 1921 in Canal Township, Venango County, she was a daughter of the late Wylie and Ala Lesher McCune.

Mrs. Johnston attended Franklin High School.

She worked at the card factory prior to moving to California where she worked at Rockwell International.

Mrs. Johnston was a member of Heckathorn United Methodist Church and the 4-H Homemakers.

On October 13, 1939 she married John M. Johnston, who preceded her in death on February 13, 1983.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry John Johnston and wife Shirley, and Max Allen Johnston, all of Oil City; one daughter, Connie Lee Finegan and husband Floyd of Cochranton; six grandchildren, Ken Johnston and wife Cheryl, Kathy Benedict, Rachel Minard and husband Rick, Amy Gardner and husband Dave, Dwayne Finegan and wife Christina, and Cindy McGill and Husband Zane; and 11 great grandchildren, Brooke, Emma, Ashley, Max, Cortney, Quintin, Braden, Nathan, Breann, Hanna and Emily.

Also surviving are five brothers, William McCune, Eugene McCune, Donald McCune, Robert McCune and Gary McCune; four sisters, Dorothy Brunton, Marjorie Rodgers, Betty Snyder and Doris Lynn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Wylie McCune Jr., Harold McCune, Paul McCune and Richard McCune.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 am Friday with the Rev. Rob Kifer, officiating.

Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Heckathorn United Methodist
Church.
