4cd07daf0ed4f5e4Thomas R. Ginkel of Knox, passed away on July 9th, 2014, surrounded by his family at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Tom has fought a courageous battle with cancer for the last 3 years.

Born on August 3, 1940, he was the son of Sylvester A Ginkel and Dorothy Ginkel of Shippenville who preceded him in death.

Tom married the former Alexandra (Sandy) Stuart on March 24, 1962, and they celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in 2014. After high school Tom worked for the Rural Telephone Co. for 5 years and then went to work for the PA Department of Transportation of which he retired from after 34 years of service. He then spent 12 years working for various engineering firms as a consultant construction manager. He was a member of various local clubs and enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family.

Tom is survived by his wife, Alexandra (Sandy) of Knox, a daughter Tracie J. Schettler and her husband Scott of Shippenville, a son J. Weston Ginkel and his wife Stacy of Knox, and a sister Marilyn Demski and her husband Jim of Griffin, GA.

He is also survived by three grandchildren Beau Schettler of Shippenville, Amanda Telego of Beaver and Kayla Telego fo Knox, two sisters in law, Marlene Dennison of Brookville and Rheba Klinger of Knox as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home, Inc., 504 E. Penn St., Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow at the Knox Union Cemetery in Knox.
