R** Bandana Winery to Celebrate ‘Terrible Two’s’ Today

RBW LEEPER, Pa. (EYT) — R** Bandana Winery, of Leeper, is celebrating its second birthday today.

R** Bandana is officially in its terrible two’s.

The winery will be celebrating this occasion on Saturday, July 12, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Rick and Jen will be entertaining from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

And, who better to celebrate this occasion than Robyn Young! She will be at “Robyn’s Nest” with her crowd-interactive entertainment from 7:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.

Weather permitting, Bill Hall will be giving his famous hayrides.

Free Crappy t-shirts will be given to the first 50 people who attend.

Owned and operated by Kate Hall and her husband, Mike, the R** Bandana Winery was primarily Kate’s vision. Together Kate and Mike cleared out the wooded area behind their property, and with the help of local workers, Kate was able to successfully fulfill her dream.

Kate Hall told exploreClarion.com, “Opening this winery was absolutely 100% passion. We are very excited to reach our second year in this business. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to come to the winery! I couldn’t be happier….I am living my dream!”

KathleenOriginally from Pittsburgh, Kate has owned a camp in the Tylersburg area since her college years. Kate’s attraction to Clarion County area was the romantic, rustic wooded areas, free from congestion and chaos; these things enticed her to frequent her camp on weekends over the years. With a surprising turn of events and a smidgen of fate, Kate married “the boy next door” which planted her to the area that she now calls home.

R** Bandana Winery is an extension of Kate’s art.

Kate, who has been an artist by trade for over 25 years, displays her contemporary canvas paintings of flowers on the walls throughout the winery. To some, her paintings will give an impression of Georgia O’Keeffe’s work. The labels on the wine bottles also display Kate’s unique artwork.

“One thing I love about doing art, or being an artist, or art itself, is not just the journey of the artwork but the experience you have as an artist. It’s where you also enjoy the flavors and the sounds and everything that comes together in visual, and I do think that we embody that at the winery – with wine, art, and music as the embodiment of the experience,” continues Kate.

Kate and Mike named their business R** Bandana Winery in honor of coal miners who made a stand against their slave driven employers on Blair Mountain in West Virginia in 1919. Wearing red bandanas to identify themselves, hundreds of coal miners died during this rebellion; these coal miners earned the nickname “Rednecks” which was considered an honor.

RBWsKate’s inspiration to own her own winery was collectively throughout her art career, as it has been an experience of wine, art, and music. She said that when she would have her openings for her art, it would be wine-tasting and pairings with cheese in addition to music and art.

“I feel like I am having my very own opening with wine-tasting pairing every single time that we are open,” adds Kate.

R** Bandana Winery has sitting areas in the winery and on the porch outback where patrons can enjoy a glass of wine with a cheese plate.
