Thumbnail (14)Barry L. Collingwood, 73, of Oil City, passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 12th at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born December 4, 1940 in Kennerdell, Barry was the son of the late Harry Earl and Myrtle Grace Wagner Collingwood.

Barry was a surveyor for Northwest Engineering Inc., and PA DOT and retired in March 2000.

He enjoyed photography, scuba diving, racing stock cars, and sky diving. He also enjoyed building model trains and airplanes.

Barry enjoyed history and was a Civil War and WWII historian.

Barry is survived by his son, Bryan Collingwood and his wife, Becky, of Greenville; and his grandchildren, Dylan and Steven Collingwood, also of Greenville. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Lawrence; his brothers, David Collingwood and Harry Collingwood, Jr.; and his sisters, Harriet Hart and Pauline Hazlett.

Family and friends of Barry will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Wednesday, July 16th, from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 4 p.m. following visitation. Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Barry’s memory to the American Cancer Society — PA Division Inc., PO Box 896, Hershey PA 17033-0896, and/or the Venango County Humane Society — PO Box 1045, Oil City PA 16301.
