Stanley Richard Switzer

1356624_profile_picStanley Richard (Red) Switzer, 81 of Sligo, died July 11, 2014 at his residence after an extended illness.

Born October 30, 1932 in Fairmount City, he was the son of Stanley B. Switzer and Esther C. Seybert.

Stanley was a member of Nevin Memorial United Church of Christ in Frogtown, Clarion County. Stanley graduated from Clarion Limestone in 1950. Then he entered the United States Air Force in May of 1951-1955.

After leaving the service in 1955 Mr. Switzer worked as a teller for the New Bethlehem Bank then worked for Glenn’s Mercantile.

In 1963 he became a truck driver, driving for George Wolf until 1974. He then began driving for R&H Trucking in Clarion from 1974-1985. He also owned his own dairy farm.

Stanley was the President of the Pennsylvania Gun Owners Association.

In his younger years he enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating, fishing and camping.

Stanley is survived by three sons: Richard Switzer and his wife, Aeed of Thialand; Matthew Switzer and his wife, Kim of Oklahoma, Steven Switzer of Sligo; and two daughters, Virginia Guntrum and her husband, George of Summerville; Hazel Jay and her husband, John of Corisca; 10 grandchildren, Amy, Jason, Caleb, Shalee, Adam, Samantha, Ben, Travis, Brian, Timothy and numerous great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by three brothers: John Switzer of Tennessee, Frank Switzer and his wife, Sue of Fairmount City; Larry Switzer and his wife, Barb of Aylett, Virginia; and one sister: Patricia Polanski and her husband, Rich of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Pat Aaron Switzer.

As per his request there will be no viewing or services.
