Margaret Anne Lane

0000000001_14177Margaret “Anne” Lane, Shillington, Pa., former 50 year resident of Sharon, passed away peacefully at 9:25 p.m. Thursday evening (7-10-14) in Shillington just a few days before her 85th birthday.

Anne spent the last year of her life at the Mifflin Nursing Facility in Shillington, Pa. to be close to her family as her health problems no longer permitted independent living.

She was born and raised in Oil City, PA the daughter of Henry and Helen Davidson Fields. Upon graduation from high school she moved as a young adult with her husband, William E. Lane, to start a family in the Hermitage area.

She was a homemaker until her children completed school, and then held various jobs as medical receptionist, retail salesperson, and secretary. An avid tennis player, Anne served for one year as the coach of the girl’s tennis team at what is now Kennedy Catholic High School, Hermitage. Anne remained very active throughout her life. Interests included exercising, reading, collecting and gardening. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sharon.

Her husband William E. Lane whom she married on April 25, 1953, passed away on May, 13, 1997.

Anne is survived by her two sons, David Lane of Fountain Hill, CA, and Thomas Lane of Shillington, PA, her daughter-in-law Jan Sebes, and her grandsons, Jordan, Benjamin and Christopher Lane all of Shillington. Anne has one surviving sister, Jan Clarkin, of Chesterfield, MO, and several surviving brothers- and sisters-in-law that include; Tom Clarkin, Shirley Lane, John Lane, and Peg McFate.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, John Davidson Lane, a brother, Henry Fields JR., and her sister Ruth Fields.

Calling hours: Friends and family will be received from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday (7-19-14) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon.

Services: 4:00 Saturday (7-19-14) in the First Presbyterian Church, Sharon with the Rev. Dr. Glenn M. Hink, pastor officiating.

Internment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
