Member_136512Norman G. Ziegler, 81, of Dewberry Ave. in Oil City, Cranberry Township, died Monday evening, July 14, 2014 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City.

Born March 18, 1933 in Van, he was the son of the late Lloyd F. and Ruth Willings Ziegler.

He was a 1951 graduate of Cranberry High School. In his early years Norm played baseball with the Hayrake League in Seneca.

Mr. Ziegler was a member of Seneca United Methodist Church.

Norm enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf.

Mr. Ziegler worked at Joy Manufacturing for a short time, at his father’s business, Ziegler’s Garage, and for National Fuel as a mechanic, retiring from there in 1997 after seventeen years of service.

He was married in Chewsville, Maryland on July 19, 1952 to the former Cathryn Ann Fischer, who survives.

Also surviving is his daughter, Angela Hall of Oil City; his grandson, Galen Hall of Oil City; a sister, Neva Rossman of Knox; his brother, Fred Ziegler and wife Judy of Seneca; two sisters-in-law, Marge Ziegler of Seneca and Amy Ziegler of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Ziegler; three brothers, Howard, Edgar, and Myron Ziegler; a brother-in-law, Don Rossman; and a sister-in-law, Caryl Ziegler.

Friends will be received Thursday (July 17) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Seneca United Methodist Church, 196 East State Road in Seneca. The Rev. William Hastings and the Rev. Janet Pratt, church pastors, will officiate.

Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry.
