Clair Owen Schaeffer

Born November 19, 1928 in Millbrook, Mercer County, Clair was the son of Charles and Lillian Owen Schaeffer. He attended Sandy lake High School.

On June 19, 1954 Clair married Lois Ann Brinkley of Franklin. That same year he briefly served in the United States Army.

Clair was employed by Amalie Refining for a time as a salesman followed by several years working for Martin Gas in Franklin as a sales and delivery driver.

Hunting, fishing and the outdoors were some of Clair’s favorite pastimes. A loving and devoted husband and father, he was for many years a member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin, as a deacon, trustee and youth leader. He served as scoutmaster for Franklin Boy Scout Troop 33.

Clair’s friendly, easygoing manner and love of laughter were well-known not only to family and friends, but to many acquaintances. Anyone fortunate to spend enough time with him would be rewarded with his gift of a good story.

Surviving along with his wife, Lois Ann are his children Gary of Pittsburgh, Robert of Sullivan County, NY, Roberta Ainsworth of Warren and Richard of Polk, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Allen Schaeffer of Sandy Lake and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 312 W. Park St. from 4-7 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, 1041 Liberty St. at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Randy Powell, pastor of the church officiating.

Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.
