Member_136614Blanche P. Miller, 97, of Clarion, formerly of Parker, died on Friday, July 18, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Clarion.

Born on August 23, 1916 in Leonia, New Jersey; she was the daughter of Charles W. and Olivia M. Appleby Piatt.

In early years, Blanche was a dancer. She then graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the University of the State of New York in 1950. She worked at the Bellevue Hospital in New York for several years.

She later attended and graduated from Clarion State Teachers College in 1959 with a bachelor degree in education. Blanche continued her education with a Master’s degree in education, graduating in 1971 from Clarion State College. She worked for many years at Union High School in Rimersburg as an English teacher, where she retired.

Blanche enjoyed giving private dance lessons, painting, and choreography for community and high school plays.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Bud Tristano of Clarion, Tania Tristano of Paris, France, and Carol Tristano of Paris, France; a step granddaughter, Jody Copeland Baker of Wichita, Kansas; a great granddaughter, Anna Rose Popkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carol Joan Miller Copeland; three brothers, Willis Piatt, Phillip Piatt, and Harold Piatt; and long-time companion, Kay LeVier.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

There will be no visitation or services.
