Judith Dunn Rupert

Member_136662Judith Dunn Rupert, 78, of Clarion, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, in her home surrounded by her family.

Born September 30, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Judith was the daughter of Robert and Jean Dunn.

Judy graduated in 1953 from Oakmont High School as class valedictorian. She graduated from Clarion Teachers College in 1957 and received her master’s degree in 1970.

She was married December 15, 1956 in Oakmont to Leland L. Rupert, and he survives.

Judith was a teacher for 37 years and retired from Clarion Area School District in 1997.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion. She was a Steven Minister and served as a missionary where she traveled to Lithuania, Mississippi, and Germany twice.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Leland Rupert (Jean) of Uniontown, OH, Jon Rupert (Kelley) of Saxonburg, Bonnie Tompkins (Terry) of Kennesaw, GA, Patty Abel (David) of Acworth, GA, and Judy Wolbert (Paul) of Marble. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Lindsay Jankowski (Joe) of Gibsonia, Mark Rupert of Wexford, Jake Rupert of Pittsburgh, Lauren, Nancy, and Matthew Tompkins of Kennesaw, GA, Alex and Kirk Wolbert of Marble, and Nicole and Christopher Abel of Acworth, GA; and great-grandchild, Haley Jankowski of Gibsonia.

Also are surviving are her brother, James (Ellie) of Youngsville; her sisters, Martha Dunn of Oakmont, Bonnie Hookstra (Steve) of Ellijay, GA, Laurel George of Plum, Elizabeth Hays of Marietta, GA, and Rebecca Zucco (Lenny) of Oakmont; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Tompkins, her brothers, David, Lee, and William Dunn.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarion.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarion with Rev. Kevin Haley, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be held in the Clarion Cemetery.
