Delores Aites, 75, of Shippenville, died on Monday, July 14, 2014, at her home.

Born on June 6, 1939 in Toby Township, Rimersburg; she was the daughter of William A. and Evelyn C. Flick Aites.

In earlier years, Delores worked for the McCall’s Chicken Farm in Sligo as a processor. She then worked as a dietary aide for most of the 17 years she worked at the Clarview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo, where she retired as a cook.

She enjoyed all Christian activities at various churches. She enjoyed children and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She also assisted with fundraising for her church by making sausage, homemade bread, and apple butter.

Delores loved Christmas and helped other people decorate for the holiday. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, flowers and gardening, canning, and cooking big family meals for her family and extended family.

After retirement, she was known as Grandma and Aunt Jane to many children and enjoyed babysitting.

She loved her dogs, Midnight and Duke.

Delores is survived by a daughter, Tracey Aites of Shippenville, a grandson, Nicholas Aites of Shippenville; a brother, Junior Aites and his wife, Jane, of Rimersburg; two sisters, Catherine Bowser of Rimersburg, and Janet Fish and her husband, Earl, of Cheswick; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Switzer Aites of Clarion.

Also surviving is a special nephew, Steve Bowser, and his children, Brandon and Brooke, of Shippenville; a special niece, Dottie Reddinger, and her family; Randy, Amy, Christopher, Shelley (John Lasher), and Randy Jr., all of Shippenville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William E. Aites; infant sister, Judy Ann Aites; brother-in-law, Ernest Bowser; and two nephews, Mike Bowser and Jason Aites.

Family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Evans, Clarion Forest VNA Hospice Chaplain, and Rev. Colin Koch, pastor of the New Hope Church in Strattanville, co-officiating.
