Inez E. King

d4cada0e1a07ba44Inez E. King, 91 of Knox passed away unexpectedly Sunday July 20, 2014 at the Clareview Nursing & Rehab Center.

Born August 11, 1922 in Turkey City, she was the daughter of F. Merle and Violet Johnson.

Inez was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s UCC in Monroe, active in Women’s Fellowship where she helped tie many prayer blankets and make picture books for the Alzheimer Units of nursing homes, assemble School Kits and Health Kits for Church World Service. She is a past member of the choir. She loved the Lord and her church and was a faithful helper at anything happening there.

She was a big fan of football and loved sharing donuts or ice cream with friends. She loved to work in the yard, especially mowing grass. She always had a big garden and canned many jars of delicious fruits and vegetables.

She played the violin and the piano and loved music, especially the hymns. She was an immaculate housekeeper, treasured the “old things” from her parents and grandparents homes, and took care of any family member who needed her.

She liked to play most games and was an excellent card player. Picnics in the yard with all the family gathered together gave her the fondest memories.

On November 29, 1939 Inez married Lawrence J. King who preceded her in death in 1975.

Inez is survived by a son Butch King and his wife Patricia of Knox, four grand children Todd King of Shippenville, Richard Wingard, Matthew King and his wife Heather of Knox and Cindy Wingard of Franklin, four great grand children Jacob King, Nathanial King, Kylee King and Brandy Wingard and several great great grand children. Also surviving are two sisters Rose Cotterman of Franklin and Iris Ramsey California and two nephews Jeff Cotterman and Bernie Ramsy.

Along with her husband Inez was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters Alice Clark and Freeda May Sporoski.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home, Inc., 504 E. Penn St., Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Nancy Dunmire of St. Mark’s UCC, Monroe offociating.

Interment will follow at the Cedar View Cemetery in Strattanville.

The family suggest memorial donations be made in St. Mark’s UCC, PO Box 637, Knox PA 16232.
