Miriam “Tootie” Louise Kiser Greenawalt

miriam-greenawalt-obituaryMiriam “Tootie” Louise Kiser Greenawalt, 94, of Oil City, died peacefully Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Sugar Creek Station surrounded by her loving family.

Born February 2, 1920 at the Oil City Hospital, she was a daughter of the late Howard Duff and Maude Morrison Kiser of Seneca.

Mrs. Greenawalt was a graduate of Cranberry High School and an honors graduate of Franklin Commercial College.

She was employed with Quaker State Oil Refining Corp. in Oil City for 15 years before moving to Butler in 1955.

On February 16, 1952 she married James S. Greenawalt who preceded her in death on July 12, 1988. After the death of her husband, she returned to Oil City.

Tootie loved animals, especially dogs and had a special place in her heart for her dog Jiggs. She enjoyed sewing, making many of her own clothes. She also took pleasure in knitting clothes for Barbie dolls and reading, sometimes reading two books at a time.

She is survived by a brother, Roger Kiser of Franklin; two nieces, Darlene Kimes Gulnac of Franklin, and Dianne Norsworthy of Bakersfield, CA; three nephews, David Kiser, Jr. of Franklin, Steven Kiser of Austin, TX, and John Kiser of Kensington, MD, and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister F. Elaine Kiser Kimes; two brothers, Howard M. Kiser, and David G. Kiser; and a nephew Howard “Lee” Kimes.

The family would like to thanks the care givers at Sugar Creek Station for their loving care and support of Tootie.

A memorial service will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
