CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Pennsylvania American Water has announced the start of construction to replace more than 4,100 feet of aging water main in the Clarion County to improve service reliability and improve fire protection for residents. The combined costs of these system improvements are approximately $710,000.

“Pennsylvania American Water is replacing mains that reached the end of their useful lifespan, which means in some cases, they were installed more than 80 years ago,” said Robert Larson, supervisor of Pennsylvania American Water’s Clarion District.

Crews are installing new ductile iron pipe along Greenville Avenue and East 8th Street in Clarion Borough, and along Miller Street in Sligo. Weather permitting, the company expects to complete pipe installation, service connection tie-ins and final paving restoration by December.

During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water’s customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
