Lernerville Speedway was one of the few tracks to beat the weather completing another fab four program Friday night.

The sprint car feature saw Ohio invader, Lee Jacobs, steal the show coming from his eighth starting spot to pass track point leader Carl Bowser for the win. Jacobs now has two wins in his three visits to Lernerville after winning the All-Star race earlier this season.

The modified feature saw the King family add to their win total this year as Rex King, Jr. scored the win over a hard charging Brian Swartzlander. Mike Pegher won his second late model feature of the season and Cory McPherson executed a last lap pass to score the sportsman win.

Lernerville will be in action tomorrow (July 29) with school bus races, bike races for the kids and a one hundred lap enduro. Fab Four racing will resume this Friday at the action track.

This Wednesday (July 30), Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio will stage their biggest race of the season as the Lou Blaney Memorial takes center stage. The race will feature 410 sprint cars in an open show paying $5,000.00 to the winner, and the BRP modified tour featuring the big block modifieds. The race will honor the late Lou Blaney, one of, if not the best modified racer to ever come out of the area.

Hall of Fame driver Lou Blaney won over 600 features during his storied career in modifieds and sprint cars. Blaney passed away in 2009 after battling Alzheimer’s disease. Lou Blaney Memorial t-shirts will be on sale Wednesday with all proceeds going to ALZ Association. You can also purchase shirts at www.dbracing10.com and www.emleighsandmamabs.com if you can’t make it to the race.

There should be a great field of both sprint cars and modifieds on hand for this race with action slated to get underway at 7p.m.

Mercer Raceway Park tried to beat the rain this past Saturday but only completed four heat races before rain halted action. Sunday’s BRP race was also postponed to due to rain.

Mercer will try again this Saturday with another regular show while the BRP race is scheduled for Sunday August 10. Fans that were on hand can use their rain checks on August 2 or August 16.

On the national scene, it was Donny Schatz continuing his strong season with two more wins as the World of Outlaws sprint series spent the weekend in Canada. The wins also extended Schatz’s point lead as he moves closer to his sixth World of Outlaws championship.

The World of Outlaws late model series visited Iowa where Darrell Lanigan scored his 10th win of the season.
