Charles A. “Chuck” Staab

OI820355881_staab001Charles A. “Chuck” Staab, 84, of Oil City died at 5:21 P.M. Tues. July 29, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Oil City after a period of declining health.

Born Jan. 5, 1930 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late Charles A. Staab Sr. & Cecilia Selker Staab.

He attended St. Joseph Schools and was a 1947 Graduate of St. Joseph’s High School.

Mr. Staab was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War.

He was employed in the magazine and newspaper business for more than 50 years.

Chuck was a member of St. Joseph Church in Oil City, and a member of the Oil City Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed gardening, reading, puzzles and wood crafts.

On May 30, 1955, he was married to the former Marilyn Schott, and she survives.

He is also survived by two sons: Charlie Staab & his wife Gina of Franklin and Tom Staab and his wife Debra of Hanover and their children Michelle & Amy, three sisters:Mary Alcorn of Oil City, Margaret (Peg) Toscano of Erie, and Sr. Janet Staab of Erie, a brother Joseph Staab of Erie, a brother-in-law Bob Schott & his wife Karen of Wisconsin, sisters-in-law Betty Hassell of Erie and Karen Henderson & her husband Bob of Oil City.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Bernard Staab & Eugene Staab, and by three brothers-in-law: Charles Hassell, Glenn Alcorn and Carmen Toscano.

Private visitation will be held at the convenience of the family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Friday in St. Joseph Church with Fr. Justin P. Pino, Pastor, Presiding.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemeterywith Military Honors accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
